New Computer
I swore I would never buy another Microsoft product, but the college uses mymathlab.com. This website might have a deal with Microsoft, because they will not allow their software to interact with the free and open source Linux operating system. It seems that I am forced to use the buggy, bloated, vulnerable, accusatory software that is the Windows Operating System.
I have a three year old Toshiba laptop with XP, but the LCD screen has failed, it has so many lines running through it that it is hardly viewable. I won’t be buying another Toshiba product. By coincidence, I took the laptop off of the shelf and fired it up just three days ago. It had not been started in about a year and everything needed to be updated. This took about three hours and several reboots. I hate Windows.
So I bought a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate for the new PC. Ever since finding newegg.com, I have done all of my computer shopping there. I buy the parts and put them together myself. The prices are low and the shipping is fast. Stick in a copy of openSUSE, Ubuntu or any other flavor of Linux and I have a powerful, low cost computer.
It is my understanding that most of the popular games are also designed to use only Windows, but I have always quickly become bored playing games, so that was never an issue with me. I have recently discovered Second Life ®. That is very interesting and I was told that it is not a game. Every one involved in Second Life takes it very seriously. The Second Life world supports Linux, so I have been wandering around in there.
