Problems With TI-84 Plus

May 6th, 2008

This expensive TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphing Calculator from Texas Instruments does not work with the expensive, bloated, buggy, accusatory, oppressive, unsafe Microsoft Windows Vista Operating System.

What joy I felt when observing my new calculator.  Such deep appreciation I have for the  complexity and power of this machine, even though as of now, I am unable to make use of this wonderful technology. I am reminded of a passage from my favorite book Lucifer’s Hammer by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, where the Soviet cosmonaut was jealous of the way that the NASA astronaut could walk into any drugstore in the USA and buy an advanced calculator that was all but impossible for him to obtain in his brutal, failing, communist Soviet Union. It Works

May 4th, 2008

All of the parts arrived  on time and the computer has been assembled.  I installed Vista seemingly without any problems.  I then installed Ubuntu 8.04 on another partition because there is no reason to use the bloated, buggy, oppressive Windows Vista Operating System except it is a requirement for the mymathlab.com interactive website.  I do not understand why my own college and the mymathlab.com website will not support some freedom loving people (Linux users).  Why do they want to drain the budget of poor college students?

Today’s Shipment

May 1st, 2008

Today I received half of the parts for the new Windows computer.  Newegg.com shipped them quickly and UPS was right on time. Tomorrow the rest should show up; including the case.  This post is a test.  I am learning to insert images into my posts, here on the blog at CollegeAt47.com.  I think this image is much too large.

This is the box the computer parts came in.
